Ask HN: What's the most economical approach to the most tokens?
I'm doing web developement, and game development for a hobby project. I've tried lots of harnesses / IDE's - Best I've found is VSCodium.+ Cline + Openrouter, using discounted models (GLM 5.3 Flash is 50% off atm for example) I used Cursor for the last year - it's been decent. But I'm unhappy with the direction their g…

So you want to use OpenRouter?
If you only care about open source models, cline and opencode provide usage based access and subscriptions for general API access

You should use their harness. They trained it on multiple harnesses but have specifically optimized it for their harness. Cline also did an independent experiment w spark 1.2 where using the native harness makes it use fewer tokens / turns to accomplish tasks

Ask HN: How much money do you spend monthly on subscriptions for AI models?
$30/mo for Synthetic (open weight models with ZDR and high throughput) + whatever coding plan the flavour of the month is (last month was $20 on NeuralWatt, this month $4.99 on ClinePass for DSFlashV4 mostly)

I do that kind of things all the time with Qwen 3.5 122B. It works well in one shot with Cline or Opencode. May be your harness problem?

What is happening to jobs? Separating AI hype from reality
Devin and Cline were the original true "agents" IIRC. Aider was the original terminal "agent" but it was't a true agent, it was sort of a hybrid agentic chat, since it had limited recursion ability (3 turns by default) and you had to configure it carefully to make it consistently take multiple turns in a row.

I think you might be fooling yourself with AI
I think you might be fooling yourself. Personal-plan subscription subsidies do not equate to "it's not viable, and all of it is about to be shut off." If that were true, then Kilo Code, Claude Code, Cline, Pi, and Command Code would not be occupying 5 of the top 10 apps using OpenRouter. People have purchased 20 trilli…

    Never Enough
Just the building process. I maintain my own full-stack JS framework and build apps on top of it. Case in point: I was able to ship this [1] in one month flat at a quality level that doesn't make me squirm …

Kimi K3: second only to Fable 5 on AA-Briefcase
What harness do they use for testing? Back in 2025 it was common to test models in a different harnesses. I remember watching a guy on youtube, who was testing every new model in opencode, cline, codex, claude, etc. Why did it come out of fashion ? EDIT: ah, yeah. the point was that a harness would often affect results…

Kimi K3 Is Competitive with Fable; Kimi K3 and Fable Is SoTA
Simplest way is to signup to OpenRouter and filter out all non ZDR (zero data retention) providers. Paying "API rates" however can prove expensive compared to coding plans (for instance, MiniMax $20/mo coding plan allows 1.7b tokens; depending on input/output/cache ratio, it is worth $200 to $500+), except for Hy3 , De…

Show HN: I Wanted AI Code Review I Could Own. So I Built Codra
There's some overlap since Codra also lets you use your own provider. But Cline and Continue live in your editor and you use them yourself. Codra runs on its own and reviews PRs, posting comments right on the PR. Different thing, not really a swap. It's an early-stage project so I expect to add a lot more!

I recently started using cline instead of opencode and prefer the interface. I'm interested if anyone here here has any arguments for opencode or codex over cline?
