His whole thesis: “I like to build ideas that can’t fail.” Every app follows the same 10-step playbook. He’s run it on 3 companies, halfway through a 4th (https://t.co/Idk078vzLo), and about to start the 5th (https://t.co/CPqK5GGtRB, a B2B group e-cards tool launching in 2 weeks). The rules he never breaks: > Pick an idea that’s already been done. New ideas need validation. Copied ideas already have proven demand. > Always start with 4 co-founders, split 25% equally. Minimizes founder fallout - the #1 killer of startups. > Tech-heavy team: frontend dev, backend dev, designer, and someone like Mike doing everything else. > Never give an account away free. If they pay, they use it. > Grow to $10K MRR to cover costs, then split all profits between founders. Stay lean forever. The money engine before MRR? Lifetime deals. Sell it for $59-$100 one-time. He raised $30K on a private LTD for Thrill alone. Then launch on AppSumo. Then do one final “last chance” LTD to close it forever. Goal: $100K in the bank before you touch MRR. What he refuses to build: anything AI-dependent. “You’re not in control of it. Massive risk.” What he’s watching: boring documentation tools. Overpriced, underbuilt, and AI needs good docs to recommend your product. His advice to young Mike: work with people you’d have a beer with. He calls his co-founders his mates. The takeaway: boring businesses + a repeatable playbook > chasing the next shiny AI wrapper.view source ↗

KEEP IT SHORT. this does two things: 1) creates two notifications for them, for the like and for the comment 2) creates a pull for them to check the DM or click on your profile DO NOT overwhelm them with a long message like "I'm so interested! I have 5 years of experience in program management, I just graduated from X university, etc etc." first of all, it’s thirsty. second of all, nothing you say in that comment will be enough for them to pique interest unless you went to a top school or work at a top company (and if you did, why so thirsty?) so don't do it. stand ouview source ↗

At 5am: "Contrive day's business, and take the resolution of the day." Next to it, one morning question: "What good shall I do this day?" At night, the other one: "What good have I done to-day?" He kept a print shop, a newspaper and an almanac going on that schedule (and still found time to invent things). Most owners start the day in the inbox and end it there. This prompt gives you Franklin's two questions with your real numbers attached. Paste this into Claude each morning, with your calendar, inbox and invoices connected. --- You are running Benjamin Franklin's daily schedule for my business. Morning, when I paste this: read my calendar, my inbox and my open invoices. Then give me: 1. The resolution of the day: the one thing that moves the business most, in one sentence 2. Today's business: every appointment, and what I need for it 3. Money: who owes me, what I owe, anything due this week 4. Replies: the three emails that need me today, each with a drafted answer 5. What I can ignore today, and why Evening, when I say "evening": ask me Franklin's question, "What good have I done today?" Compare my answer with the morning resolution, and carry anything unfinished into tomorrow. Rules: one page. Nothing without a source. Draft replies, never send them. --- The two questions are the Franklin part. Skip the morning one and your inbox picks the day for you. Bookmark this for 7am tomorrow.view source ↗
